At Maple Infants’ School we aim to deliver high quality RE provision which ensures that children develop their knowledge and understanding of the major world faiths and cultures from an early age, helping them to explore what people believe and what difference this makes to how they live. This helps our children to develop an understanding and respect of cultures and faiths. Our RE curriculum makes a significant contribution to children’s spiritual, moral, social and cultural development, as well as providing important opportunities to promote and explore our British Values. As a school, we follow the Kingston Upon Thames agreed syllabus. The syllabus ensures that the curriculum is coherent and progressive, building the children’s understanding and knowledge from a starting point of encountering Christianity and other faiths as part of their growing sense of self, their own community and their place within the early years. The children then continue to explore the religious transitions for Christians, Jews and Muslims within KS1 (years 1 and 2).
Parents have the right to request for their child to be withdrawn from all or part of RE lessons - please ask to meet with Mrs Barwell to discuss this further.
