Maple Infants’ School is dedicated to providing the best possible support for children with Special Educational Needs or a Disability (SEND).   We pride ourselves on working closely with children, their parents/carers and with outside agencies to support their needs.

The leader for SEND at Maple Infants’ School is Mr Oliver Wood.    He can be contacted via the school office or by emailing [email protected].

A copy of our 2024-25 SEND Information Report can be found above.  All schools produce an Information Report in the form of questions and answers.  This report will allow parents/carers to understand more about how we support children with SEND in every school in their area and help them to make an informed decision about the school that can best support the needs of their child. These answers are reviewed annually.

We would, however, also encourage you to make a visit to school to discuss the particular needs of your child should you require any further information.

You can find out more information on the Local Offer for children with SEND at the Achieving for Children website:

https://www.kr.afcinfo.org.uk/local_offer

For more general information about the SEND system for young people aged 0 to 25 that came into force from September 2014 please read the Code of Practice Document that is available on the GOV.UK website:

Occupational Therapy Support

Occupational Therapy (OT) may be helpful for children who have significant functional difficulties in the areas of self-care skills (cutlery use, dressing, toileting), use of tools and equipment (pencil, scissors) and mobility and posture (navigating around environments and maintaining an upright sitting posture).

The Community Paediatric Occupational Therapy team have produced a series of leaflets with strategies and advice on a number of different themes, which can be found on the AfC Local Offer webpage by clicking on the button right:
