Admissions

We recognise that starting school and choosing the right environment for your child is an important decision for any parent to make and we very much like to meet any prospective families. Please visit our Prospective Parent Meeting & Tours tab, found under Parent Information, for details on how you can visit our school.

Feedback from recent prospective parent tours included:

"I came to Maple as a child myself – I cried after your tour! The same lovely school I fondly remember is still there for my child to hopefully join next year."

"We are from Ukraine and were told by our friends that your school is very welcoming and a happy place to be. We really hope to get a place for our child!"

"Thank you for the tour – your diverse community is exactly what I want for my child. You are the first school I have visited that has made me feel I could see my child and our family make up being valued and reflected within its values."

"I never knew there were so many great things happening beyond the exterior street view on Maple Road – thank you for showing us!"

Admissions - Reception

Information on admissions to Maple Infants’ and other primary schools in Kingston can be found on the council’s website. This includes in-year application forms, appeals information, how places were allocated to local schools in the last 3 years and other useful links.

Please use the button on the right to take you directly to the Kingston School Admissions website.

Children commence school in the academic year in which they become five years of age, for example – children born between 1 September 2021 and 31 August 20212, are due to start primary school (Reception class) in September 2026.

The closing date for Reception applications for 2026 is 15th January 2026. Please use the eAdmissions website to apply online for your child's reception place - a link to this site can be found on the right of this page.

Please note: you must still apply for reception class even if your child already attends the nursery at your preferred primary school.

When making your application in eAdmissions you should:

  • Complete a separate application for each child if you are applying for twins or triplets.
  • Tell us in your application if your child has a brother or sister (sibling) attending your preferred school(s) in September 2025

All children have an opportunity to visit the school towards the end of term prior to the term of entry.

If you have applied for a place at our school and are unsuccessful in securing one, please visit the Kingston Admissions website for more information on how to appeal this decision.

Admissions - Nursery

We can accept applications from parent and carers after a child turns two and offer places to children in the term after they turn three. Application forms can be found at the bottom of this page.

We are able to offer the following Nursery provision at Maple Infants' School:

  • up to 42 places for children accessing 15 hours (21 morning places and 21 afternoon places)
  • up to 18 places for children accessing fully funded 30 hours provision

Please scroll down for further information.

UNIVERSAL 15 HOURS (PART TIME) FUNDED PLACES
All children are entitled to three hours a day funded nursery education. At Maple Infants’ School, children attend either within our morning session or our afternoon session and children are expected to attend Monday – Friday.

The morning session runs from 8.30 – 11.30 am and the afternoon session between 12.30 – 3.30pm.

30 HOURS (FULL-TIME) FUNDED PLACES
These funded places are based on families meeting the eligibility criteria. Please check the website below for eligibility:
https://www.gov.uk/30-hours-free-childcare

Our places for those accessing 30 hours are as follows: Monday – Friday 8.30 – 2.30 pm

The maximum number of hours that can be claimed for is 30 hours. At Maple Infants’ School, we offer 35 hours per week for those that want to extend the day. The optional extra hour is 2:30 to 3:30pm and is charged at £7.50 per day.

Lunch time: Our on-site catering team can provide a hot meal for your child at a cost of £2.78 per meal, alternatively you can provide a packed lunch for your child.
The meal will be served in our nursery setting.

Parents must use the online HMRC eligibility checking system to confirm eligibility for a funded full time place at Maple Infants’ School Nursery.

The eligibility is only valid for 3 months, and you will need to reconfirm your eligibility every 3 months and pass on your new code to the school in order to maintain the funded place.

Once you have received your eligibility code, you will need to provide this to the School Office, along with your National Insurance Number, your date of birth and your child’s date of birth. To secure your place, we also ask for a refundable* deposit of £100 (reduced to £50 for families in receipt of EYPPG funding).

Once your place has been confirmed and your child takes up a full time funded place, the deposit will be returned to you, either in one payment or it will be deducted from your first half term fees. *If you commit to a place but subsequently change your mind, the deposit will not be refunded. This recognises the considerable administration involved in allocating places.

PAID HOURS
If you are not eligible for 30 fully funded hours, but would still like your child to attend nursery full time, we do offer some paid places subject to availability. To add an extra 15 hours to your 15 hours funded entitlement, we charge £135 per week (£9 ph) which will extend the day until 2:30 and will be invoiced half-termly.

CHANGE OF CIRCUMSTANCES
We always seek to support our families in the best way that we can but please be aware that as your child’s place is based on your family meeting the eligibility criteria, it is your responsibility to meet HMRC's deadlines and resubmit your information every three months. If your eligibility changes and you are unable to provide a valid code then your child’s 30 hour place will continue with us and you will be invoiced for the additional 15 hours (at £9 per hour).
Whether because of eligibility changes or other reasons, should you not wish to continue your child’s 30 hour or 15 hour place, we will try to accommodate your request but there will be a minimum notice period of four weeks.

Applications for a September start are not dealt with on a first-come-first-served basis, but are held until the closing date in March where they are all assessed using the criteria set by the local authority.

All parents will then be contacted by the end of April with the result of their application, whether they have been successful or not.

Please either visit the school office to complete an application form or download the forms (2 sides of A4) below by clicking on the image, and then return to the school office.
