WC: 09/11/20          OUR WEEK IN NURSERY!
-Together we learn and grow -

A Nurturing Environment

This week we will talk about ‘Remembrance Sunday’ and watch an age appropriate animation to help the children’s understanding. We will also begin to talk about ‘Diwali’, thinking about how we are all different, which celebrations we enjoy with our families and why they are a lot of fun!

Communication and Language
The children are really enjoying listening to stories and learning nursery rhymes. This week we will be focusing on the following nursery rhymes:
  • I Hear Thunder
·       Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
·       The Farmers in the Dell

The children will continue to listen to stories and be encouraged to talk about each story they have heard. Our focus stories in Nursery this week are:
·       Dinosaur Sleepover
·       The Dirty Great Dinosaur
·       The Bog Baby

Physical Development

We will practise using scissors, including revisiting how to hold scissors and use them to make a snip in paper

Personal, Social and Emotional Development

We will read ‘The Lion Inside’ and talk about how it feels to try hard to get better at something.

Anti-bullying week

Anti- Bullying Week, with the theme ‘United Against Bullying’ will take place from Monday 16th of November to Friday 20th of November.  Maple Infants’ Odd Socks Day will take place on Wednesday 18th November.
As a fun way to unite us in our week of activities we are inviting children to come to school wearing ‘odd socks’ on Wednesday 18th of November. Wearing odd socks is about fun and laughter, but also about a message of individuality, acceptance and tolerance.

Have a lovely weekend!
The Nursery team 
