Help at the Christmas Fair

This year’s Maple Infants’ Christmas Fair is fast approaching and we are looking for help.  Any time you can give will be very much appreciated.

We need help setting up beforehand and clearing away afterwards, and also time helping with the stalls during the event. Class reps are organising rotas for each stall, so if you can give half an hour or an hour, or even all the way through that would be great.

We particularly need additional help with two of the stalls: refreshments and Santa’s Grotto. Also, we need people who can do face painting.

If you haven’t seen your class rep yet, please let them know if you can help in any way on 3 December. The fair opens at 11 am and closes at 2 pm.  We will be opening for set up at 8am for the Grotto.

Kind regards,

Colin, Silke and Jennie

Star Of The Week!

Ben and Alais have been our “stars of the Week” over the past two weeks.

Both have been popular choices with the class due to their hard work and determination to get their challenging work done.

Choir Sing At Surbiton Station

Eco Blog Autumn 2011

The Maple Eco Team continues to introduce new approaches across school to get our children thinking about sustainability and eco impacts.

No Power Hour

There have been great results from the new, weekly ‘no power hour’. Each Friday afternoon during Golden Time we’re switching off as many of our electrical items as possible. Maple’s electricity usage baseline is 19 units … so we set a school target of using less than 10 units during no power hour. We’ve done better than our target for both weeks since we started, reducing electricity usage during that hour by more than 50%. The children are enjoying the challenge and getting a better handle on what uses electricity … and what you can enjoy that is ‘power free’! I’ve heard that Mr Wells’ rendition of Oak Class’s Tidy Up song without the usual CD available was a highlight last week …

Eco Code

We’ll be running a competition across the school for a Maple Eco Code during this school year … so encourage your children to get eco-creative.

Eco Heroes

Mrs Brackenbury will be helping our new Year 2 Eco Heroes get to grips with keeping the school environment clean and tidy, taking responsibility for making sure the playground is litter free.

Going Silver

We’re starting to look at going for an Eco Schools Silver Award, we’re well underway with several of the award criteria already … so watch this space.

Maths Week – Mr. Charles and his magic maths

We all had a great time during Maths week organised by Mr. Wells.

On of the children’s favourites was Mr. Charles and his magic maths.

School Choir – arrangements 17th & 23rd

The school choir will be singing in Kingston Market Place on Thursday 17th November. The children will walk from school at 2.45pm and will be singing at 3.30pm. You will need to collect your child when the singing has finished.

Also

The school choir will be singing at Surbiton Station on Wednesday 23rd November (not Thursday 24th November as previously stated) at 3.05pm. Again the children will walk from school and your child will need to be collected after the performance.

For both events please send your child to school with a santa hat or a warm woolly hat and scarf.

Christmas Carol Singing – Thur 17 & Wed 23

Please note that the year 2 choir will be singing at Kingston Market Place on Thursday, 17th November at 3.30pm and, also, at Surbiton Station on Wednesday 23rd November at 3.05pm.

Young carol singers from Maple Infants, Hampton Infants, Tolworth Junior, St Andrew’s and St Mark’s and Grand Avenue primary school will sing carols from 3.30pm in the Ancient Market Place, in addition to the traditional Christmas market.”   thisislocallondon.co.uk - Kingston prepares for Christmas lights
