Dear Parents and Carers
A sincere welcome into the Maple community to all our new pupils, parents and school staff and a welcome back to all those who are already on board! The school year has started very well although the installation of the new Receptions’ fencing was unfortunately and unavoidably badly timed. I apologize for that and hope that you were not too inconvenienced at such an important part of the year. The result has been worth waiting for and there are only a few amendments to be made to the gates which should be completed this week.
The Friends’ AGM was well attended last Wednesday evening and I know that the new committee will be in action soon and making plans for fund raising events throughout the coming year.
This year we have decided to split our assemblies and have a Foundation Stage assembly in the morning and a Key Stage 1 assembly in the afternoon in order to create more space and to focus the assembly contents specifically on the relevant age groups. All parents are invited to their child’s birthdays & celebrations assembly on Fridays and the office staff will contact you as and when this is possible. The morning assembly will commence at 10.20am, as usual, and we ask parents to arrive at 10.15am. Likewise in the afternoons the assembly will start at 2.45pm prompt with parents arriving at 2.40pm.Our Harvest Festivals will be taking place shortly, as will our Cultural Diversity Assemblies and we will, also, be holding 2 events each day to cater for everyone without too much of a problem with space!
As many of you are aware, we are awaiting the correct installation of removable barriers from the council and as soon as the work is complete the double gates at the front of the school will be opened to avoid congestion at the start and end of each day. On a similar health & safety note, please encourage your children to walk their scooters when on site, remember that dogs are not allowed and that bikes should not be chained to the railings directly outside the front of the building. The pavement area is very narrow there and it can become impossible with bikes obstructing the access areas. Also, kindly be aware that children should not be playing on the play equipment out of school hours. The Reception staff, especially, like to set up their play areas for the morning ahead and if the children are already playing with the resources the play activity has to be re-assembled.
Hopefully this lovely weather we are having will continue and many outdoor learning activities will be enjoyed before the cold weather arrives!
