Some teaching staff details for 08/09

Mrs Brownsell will be our floating teacher next year covering the teacher’s PPA (Planning, Preparation and Assessment) time and will be continuing to fill our school with music!

Mrs Brackenbury will continue to support our children and families with English as an additional language for 3 days per week.

Miss Funnell, as many of you are aware, is expecting a baby in the Autumn Term and will not be class based next year. She will continue to support intervention groups and induction of new staff, amongst other things!

Mrs Taylor and Mrs Symmons will continue to support children with particular needs.

New class names for next year

This year we have decided to change the class names as we are having a new Reception class. The names we have chosen are the names of trees in keeping with our Maple identity. As such, the 3 new Reception classes will be Laurel, Chestnut and Silver Birch. The Year 1 classes will be Cedar and Hazel and the Year 2 classes will be Oak and Rowan. The classes will be arranged as follows:

  • Gold Class will now be Laurel Class – class teacher Mrs Brittain, supported by Mrs Smith

Early closure of the Nursery, Monday 21st July

Due to the fact that we are replacing the Nursery flooring and having the whole Nursery decorated this summer, we have no other option but to close the Nursery earlier than anticipated this year. The last day in the Nursery will, therefore, be Monday 21st July. We hope this does not prove too inconvenient for you all but the Nursery staff will have considerable preparation of the Nursery rooms to make in readiness for the work to take place. Everything will have to be moved and cleared away but the Nursery will look wonderful in September. This work is long overdue.

Phew!

We had a wonderful visit to Teddington Studios to film Hi-5 this week. I’m sure that all the children enjoyed the experience. I hope to see you all at the Sports’ Day next Friday. Let’s hope the weather is with us!

The Clocktower Event & The Country Dance Festival

We have been very well represented by a group of Year 2 children at the borough Country Dance Festival this week. We, also, sent a group of Year 1 children to the Clocktower event on the same day. Both groups enjoyed their experiences and showed how well the children of Maple behave. We finished off the week with a whole school foot printing session in the playground and joined in with other schools to try for The Guiness Book of Records. Next week we are pledged to support The Big Dance Week and will be dancing every day! Liz Robinson
