What a busy day!

Our Sports’ day was lots of fun. I hope you like the photos! All the children were given a lolly after the event and everyone said they enjoyed it. It’s a pity the dad’s team didn’t follow the instructions!!! In the afternoon the children watched a dress rehearsal of the leavers’ concert and I look forward to meeting the Year 2 parents for a leaving celebration on Monday evening.

New School Business Manager and Clerk to Governors

We welcome Jane Pringle as new Clerk to Governors and Natasha Bramble as new School Business Manager (this post replaces and broadens the post of school bursar) .

We have also recently appointed 2 further SMSAs to support the children at lunch time. Details of the new appointments will be given at a later date.

Sports day and the new Reception classroom

Work will begin on the grassy area next week to prepare the site for the installation of a temporary accommodation for our new Reception class. As a result, we will be holding our Sports’ Day event in the playground of St Andrew’s & St Mark’s this year. Many thanks to Mrs Pavlis for offering this in our hour of need! Hopefully the weather will be fine! Much preparation for the new classroom has been going on and the classroom, itself, will be installed during the first few weeks of the summer break.

Leaving assembly for Jenny Holden, Wednesday 23rd July

You are all invited to attend our final assembly on Wednesday 23rd July at 11.00am in the school hall, when we will be saying a special goodbye to Jenny. Any donations you may wish to make towards leaving gifts for the above members of staff should be put in an envelope marked “staff donations”.

Jenny Holden has been a teacher at Maple for 18 years now and has also taught at St Andrew’s & St Mark’s earlier on in her teaching career. She has always been the most popular of teachers and has taught many of our parents! It will be hard to imagine school life without Jenny and we do hope she will visit us on many occasions.

Leaving members of staff

Three members of staff will be leaving us this year, namely Carrie Cookson our school bursar, Elinor Burdall, Clerk to Governors and teacher, Jenny Holden. Carrie is moving on to other career prospects and Elinor and Jenny are retiring. All three will be greatly missed.

Carrie has been at Maple for 5 years now and has ensured that we have excellent financial management in the school.

Elinor came to us 2 years ago and her efficiency will be hard to beat. Many thanks must be given to Carrie and Elinor for their hard work and dedication.
